CDS 1023-2 Wilhelm Stenhammar (1871-1927): Ett folk (One People); Kantat till Allmänna Konst- och Industriutställningen (Stockholm Exhibition Cantata). Solists, Storkyrkan Choir, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir conducted by Gustaf Sjökvist (Ett folk) and Thomas Dausgaard (Kantat).
Released to mark the anniversary of the 1897 Stockholm Exhibition, these works are truly monumental in scale, written by a composer whose severe self-criticism resulted in him writing very little. There are some stunningly written choral sections with a near Shostakovichian sense of drama in the Exhibition Cantata - which is seldom heard and played. This is supposedly one of the biggest recordings ever made in Sweden
