Jaques-Dalcroze, Emile: Orchestral Works (Vol. 1)

CDS 1057-2 Emile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865-1950): Suite de Dances (1911); Poeme alpestre (1896); Variations sur 'La Suisse est belle' (1895); Suite de Ballet (1897). Moscow Symphony Orchestra conducted by Adriano.
For all people interested in body and movement, the name Dalcroze is not unfamiliar. He owned a special institute in Geneva and devoted much time and effort to the development of his theories. But he was certainly also a very secure and very productive composer. This CD with some very charming pieces reminding of Messager will serve as a starting point.
